Who it is for
Children aged 5 and over who cannot yet read the Quran, and teenagers and adults who are starting from the beginning or returning after a long break. No previous knowledge is needed for the first level.
Three levels
- QR1 Letters and vowels: every Arabic letter and its forms, the short vowels, tanween, sukoon, shaddah and the long vowels. About 3 to 4 months at three 30-minute lessons a week (ages 7 to 12).
- QR2 Joining and fluency: reading joined words and short phrases without spelling them out. About 3 months.
- QR3 Reading from the mushaf: reading Juz Amma at a steady pace with correct vowels and stopping correctly at the end of a verse. About 3 to 6 months.
Adults usually move faster. A learner moves to the next level after passing a short level check, not by the calendar.
A typical lesson
Each lesson follows the same five steps: opening, review of the last lesson, new learning, practice with gentle correction, and homework. For recitation the teacher uses "listen, echo, try, fix": the teacher reads a short unit, the learner repeats it, then reads the next unit alone, and the teacher corrects one or two things at a time.
Homework and progress
Learners practise for 10 to 15 minutes on most days and tick it in the Evaz practice log. Parents receive a short monthly report: attendance, what was covered, skill scores, one strength, one target, and how to help at home.
What you need
A computer, tablet or phone with a camera, a quiet shared space at home, and a Qaida book that matches your family's mushaf (Noorani Qaida for IndoPak script or Madani Qaida for Madinah script). For children under 13, a parent or guardian stays at home and nearby during the lesson.
