About the academy

An online academy for Afghan families in Europe: Quran, understanding and good character, taught in your family's language.

Our mission

Evaz Online Academy helps Afghan children, teenagers and adults living in Europe to read the Quran correctly, to understand its message from clearly identified sources, and to grow in good character. Our teachers speak Pashto and Dari, and our timetable is planned around school, work and family life in Germany, the United Kingdom and the rest of Europe.

What we believe about teaching

  • Correct before fast. A learner moves on when a skill is secure, not when a week has passed.
  • Mercy and encouragement. Teachers never shame, shout at or punish a learner. Effort is always valued.
  • Understanding leads to practice. Manners and Tafseer lessons end with one small action the learner can take that week.
  • Rooted and confident in Europe. Lessons speak to real life here: school, friends of other faiths, neighbours, social media and two or three languages at home.
  • Families are partners. Parents receive a short monthly progress report and know what their child is practising.

Clear sources and review

Every verse of the Quran and every hadith used in our lessons is cited by surah and verse, or by collection and number, and checked before it is taught. Tafseer and manners lessons are reviewed by the academy’s academic reviewer before they reach a class. Nothing we teach is a fatwa. Questions of law and belief that go beyond the syllabus are referred to the academic reviewer.

Recitation is taught in the narration of Hafs from Asim. Learners may use the IndoPak-script mushaf that many Afghan families own, or the Madinah script. Practical worship topics follow the Hanafi school, taught respectfully.

Keeping children safe

Classes take place only on academy-controlled video accounts. Teachers do not message children privately; all messages go to parents through the academy. Classes are not recorded unless a parent, or the adult learner, gives written consent. Read our child safeguarding policy.

What we do not claim

Evaz Online Academy does not claim government accreditation or religious certification. Our Certificates of Completion show that a learner completed a level with us; they are not accredited qualifications or an ijazah.
